It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to fifth grade. This year promises to be one of exciting learning with positive, successful experiences. Your child will develop more independence along with greater responsibilities in preparation for his or her transition to middle school.
I encourage all students to be the best they can be. I believe that this is their education, and it requires effort to reap rewards. I start and end the year with the philosophy that this is the only time they will be in 5th grade, and I do my best to make their experience challenging and fun. I do expect each student to work to the best of their ability. It is also an expectation that they complete their assignments in a manner which reflects care and pride in their work, and that they understand that the grades they receive are the grades they earned.
More details about the year will be discussed in full at our upcoming Open House. It is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd from 6:30 to 7:30. I hope you will be able to attend.
