PE Cares Food Drive
Our school donated thousands of items for our PE Cares food drive.  The class who donated the most items was Mrs. Hendree’s class.  They will be heading to Hudsonville Lanes to celebrate with Mr. Beimers.   Mrs. Willmore’s class came 2nd, winning a pizza party.  Mr. Bolhuis’ class came 3rd, winning a free gym day.  Awesome job, everyone!  We are so thankful for your generosity!

What’s happening in…
Reading:  Students are beginning to learn about informational texts.
Writing: We will be digging into reading and social studies content that will be supporting our new writing unit coming up.
Math: Students are finishing unit 3 focusing on multiplying and dividing fractions.  Assessment  will be next week.
SS: We have begun our unit on Three Worlds Meet, Europe, North America, and Africa.

Computers
Study Island is a great resource for students to review material for a test at home.  The question format will continue to give additional practice for the M-STEP test, and the content will prepare them for the unit test. In order to find the website, your child will need to first log into www.clever.com.  They just need their school e-mail and school password. Their e-mail is their username@hpsstudents.net. Their password is whatever they use to log onto the computers at school. They can then get to Study Island from that website. Students should know where to go from there.  However, if they forget, have them click on MI Programs, 5th grade.

Wonder Movie Outing
We are excited about the opportunity to watch the movie Wonder with your child at the Rivertown’s movie theater. We just completed the book in class and they loved it!  We are still working on all of the details but this is what we know so far… The date will be Tuesday, Nov. 21st, times are TBD. We would meet in front of the Celebration Cinema's box office before the movie. Tickets will be prepaid and purchased prior to the event. Report Cards & Conferences
In backpacks on Monday, you will find your child’s report card. We look forward to seeing you next week to discuss your child’s progress as well as answer any questions you may have.

PE Cares Food Drive
The fifth graders are being encouraged to donate “proteins and other.” Tuna fish, peanut butter, baked beans, etc. are suggested, but anything would be appreciated. Toiletries, such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and soap are also being collected. Thanks so much for taking this opportunity to help teach our students about compassion and love for others.
