Halloween News

Park Families: In our efforts to partner with the Laurels, we are going to try a new start time for our annual Halloween Parade. We will leave Park at 9:20am and parade down VanBuren, through the Laurels, and back to school by coming up Curtis. Please have your child dressed (or mostly dressed) for the parade when he/she arrives at school. (The Director of the ECC is aware of our morning parade plans and understands Park students may arrive for before school childcare in costume.) Please only send your child to school in school appropriate costumes (specifically, no weapons or anything that might scare little ones). The parade will be canceled if the weather does not cooperate. Classroom parties will still be in the afternoon.

Our Halloween Party will be Wednesday, Oct 31st from 2:30-3:30. Costumes are allowed for the party. Computers
Study Island is a great resource for students to review material for a test at home.  The question format will continue to give additional practice for the M-STEP test, and the content will prepare them for the unit test. In order to find the website, your child will need to first log into www.clever.com.  They just need their school e-mail and school password. Their e-mail is their username@hpsstudents.net. Their password is whatever they use to log onto the computers at school. They can then get to Study Island from that website. Students should know where to go from there.  However, if they forget, have them click on MI Programs, 5th grade.

In Clever, students can access All the Right Type to work on their typing skills. By the end of 5th grade, students should be typing 20 WPM. Students can check their typing skills by taking a test on https://www.freetypinggame.net/free-typing-test.asp

Assessments
If your child receives a 1 on any type of assessment, please do one of the following: sign the assessment and send it back to school the next day OR write a note in your child’s agenda stating you saw the assessment.  Thank you for helping us in this matter.

Math Help?
We encourage students to take their math notebook and textbook home to help with their homework. That way they can use them as a resource if they forgot how to do their homework.   If they forgot their materials or need additional help, the following links can be used:

Can Drive Update!
The results are in...the winning class for the K-4 race was Mrs. Hendree’s 4th grade class!  The winning class for 5th grade was Mrs. Higgs’ class.  We want to again extend our appreciation to all those who helped take back over 32,000 cans!  We know it is a hassle and a bit gross, but we had our biggest and best drive yet!  This will pay off when it comes time to pay for camp!  Just a head’s up, we will be having our final can drive January 7-11.  Start saving those cans!
