We are collecting donations for residents at the Laurels through Friday, Dec. 9th. A note was sent home just before Thanksgiving with suggestions.  We are hoping to fill 40 gift bags and also create some cards.  We’ll present them after the students sing to the residents on Monday, December 19th.

Elementary Ski and Snowboarding Club:
The Hudsonville Ski and Board Club would like to invite students, siblings and parents of HPS Elementary Schools to purchase discount ski club cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego. These cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals.  Monday is the official HPS club day, and we invite you to bring the family to Bittersweet for some fun with other HPS families.   Discount prices are also good everyday of the week after 3:30pm.   Pick up information in the office.  Registration is due December 9th.

Camp Pendalouan Can Drive
Our final can drive for camp will take place right after Christmas break. Tuesday, Jan 3rd to Monday, Jan 9th. The reason for this timeframe is hopefully we can return people’s holiday cans.

Subject Overview
Reading: We have kicked off our unit on nonfiction reading.  Students will be working on identifying main ideas with key details, summarizing and working with different text structures.  They can read a nonfiction selection as well as a fiction selection at the same time.
Writing: Students will be creating an informational text on how an animal, of their choosing, adapts to their environment.
Math: Students have learned how to multiply and divide fractions and will be assessed on these skills next week.
SS: We are finishing unit 2, Three Worlds Meet, and will be assessed on Dec. 15th
Science: Students are learning how animals adapt in their environment and understanding the difference between inherited and acquired traits.
