We will have TEAM every day from 10:00-11:00.  If you have any questions about this class, please contact us.

Camp Pendalouan Can Drive
Our final can drive for camp will take place right after Christmas break- Monday, Jan 8th to Friday, Jan 12th. The reason for this timeframe is hopefully we can return people’s holiday cans.
A volunteer schedule went home earlier this week. We’d like to thank you ahead of time for all of the work you’ll do returning the cans. We sincerely appreciate your service and time.

If you are interested in being a camp chaperone from Wednesday, May 2 through Friday, May 4, a form will be sent home during the first part of January.  We will conduct a random drawing for our mom/dad volunteers.  More info to come!

Be. Kind. Service Project
Yesterday, students started our Be Kind service project by visiting The Laurels and performing their songs from their final Christmas program, as well as leading in a Christmas carol sing-a-long with the residents.  The kids performed with smiles and Christmas cheer.  The residents seem to love it.  Also, today students created Christmas cards to spread around our building to the many staff that have played an important role in their lives.  They were able to deliver their own card and see the Christmas Cheer spread across our building.
After we return from break, our 5th graders will have the opportunity to use their time/talents to venture out and shovel some driveways in our school’s neighborhood.  Be on the lookout for more info regarding our next service project!

What’s happening in…
Reading:  Students are reading informational texts, paying close attention to all of the text features that can add to student learning.
Writing: Students have chosen their Native American region and are now putting their finishing touches on their google slides presentation.  Ask them to see it!
Math: We are working on Unit 4, focusing on multiplication concepts.  Unit 4’s assessment will be a week after we return, Jan 15th.
SS: We are continuing our unit on Three Worlds Meet, Europe, North America, and Africa.

Computers
Study Island is a great resource for students to review material for a test at home.  The question format will continue to give additional practice for the M-STEP test, and the content will prepare them for the unit test. In order to find the website, your child will need to first log into www.clever.com.  They just need their school e-mail and school password. Their e-mail is their username@hpsstudents.net. Their password is whatever they use to log onto the computers at school. They can then get to Study Island from that website. Students should know where to go from there.  However, if they forget, have them click on MI Programs, 5th grade.
